Initial or Final Homeschool Consultation with Educator Adrian Cox-Settles

Duration
30 minutes

Hello All,

During the initial phone evaluation consultation, the parent and Adrian will discuss the specific homeschool situation which includes, your student's age, grade, learning style, curriculum, strengths and weaknesses, and any other questions from this questionnaire.

During the final review, the parent will be responsible for the following items below that apply to the student based on the requirements. The final evaluation meeting will be online via Zoom with Adrian, Parent(s) and Student.

1.Portfolio Review

The portfolio serves as a record of the student's educational progress throughout the year. It may include:

  • Lesson plans
  • Samples of the student's work (writing, art projects, etc.)
  • Documentation of field trips and other learning experiences
  • Standardized test scores (optional unless the district states otherwise)

2.Student Interview

The evaluator will meet with the students to get a sense of their understanding of the material and their overall learning experience. The interview might cover topics like:

  • Favorite subjects and learning activities
  • Areas where they feel challenged
  • Their learning goals for the next year
  • Any other related topic

3.Overall Assessment

Based on the portfolio and interview, the evaluator will determine whether the homeschool program is providing an "appropriate education" as defined by your state's homeschool laws. This usually means covering mandatory subjects and ensuring the student is making progress.

Remember before you homeschool, check with your local homeschool association or education department for the latest guidelines on homeschool evaluations in your area.
