What is Somatic CBT Therapy?
Somatic CBT blends traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with body-based (somatic) practices to help you feel better both mentally and physically. It’s based on the understanding that our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations are deeply connected—and that true healing often involves both the mind and body.
This approach can help with anxiety, stress, trauma, and emotional overwhelm—especially if you've noticed your body holds onto tension, fatigue, or other symptoms even when your mind understands what’s going on.
What to Expect in a 60-Minute Session
Each session is personalized, but may include:
- A brief check-in to understand what’s present for you today
- Gentle breathing, grounding, or mindfulness practices to connect with the body
- Identifying unhelpful thought patterns and exploring how they show up physically
- Guided somatic techniques (like body scanning, nervous system regulation, or movement)
- Time to reflect, integrate, and ask questions
You’ll leave the session with greater awareness of your patterns and practical tools to support yourself between sessions.
