Dax Project: "New To Itch" Queer SFF

This booking is for an event associated with Dax's Personal Blog / Personal Projects but will be highlighted on QBW.

This bundle will run from June 23rd to June 30th

This is for queer authors who write queer SFF with queer characters and who have made their books available on Itch.io. If you are unfamiliar with selling books on Itchio, check out Rien Gray's guide.

You: A queer author who has joined Itchio in 2025 and has not yet taken part in any co-op bundles. Note: his is trans inclusive, aromantic inclusive, and asexual inclusive and if you have a problem with that, this is NOT the bundle for you.

Your Book: Your book features a queer characters. Your book is in the speculative fiction genre and its many subgenres including fantasy, science fiction, and horror. This is for paid works only, with a minimum price of $2.99. Spicy books welcome. Please refer to this chart for spiciness rating:

Availability: Your book should be available on itch.io. Please make sure you have your payment option set to have Itchio collect payment and then dispurse to you (otherwise, it won't let you take part in bundles) You can submit a pre-order so long as it will be on sale within 15 days of the bundle end date (July 14th). Please ensure your itchio listing has:
  • Original Publication Date
  • A list of potential content warnings
  • A word count or page count
  • A sample (either via a link, in the description, or in a screenshot)
  • A cover that is not AI-generated and links to the cover designer or cover artist.
  • (Please check one of my listing pages for an example of what your listing page should have - anecdotal date from several authors show books that have these bits of info are more likely to result in sales and reads)

This will be limited to 15 authors (Dax NOT included - Dax is hosting and organizing but none of their books will be featured, this is just to give new-to-itchio authors the experience) and a maximum of 3 books per author. You can include series omnibus editions as 1 book if you wish.

The minimum price for this bundle will be $25 USD. Please consider your financial goals when choosing which projects to submit / how many to submit. The proceeds will be split equally among authors, regardless of the price of the book or the number of books submitted. Each author will get $1.66 per bundle sold minus any itchio fees or payment processing fees. The higher the value of the bundle / the more books in the bundle, the more bundle we will sell. It is a balancing act, but you must decide for yourself how much you want to contribute.

How Itchio Bundles Work:

  • Dax will create the bundle on Itchio and then send you a link. You must visit the link and click "approve" to approve of your participation in the bundle.
  • Once the bundle is approved, you can begin advertising it. Dax will create a short/tiny URL since the itchio URLs are often unwieldy and long.
  • Dax will make some Canva Templates for graphics to promote everyone's books. You can feel free to use them or not.
  • You must share the link to the bundle at least three times throughout the bundle (it lasts 5 days, so you can do it every other day). Either to social media or your newsletter if you have one. If you have a blog, it would be great if you could post about it on your blog, too. These work best when everyone is heavily promoting them.
  • Here is a past bundle that Dax did and here is some of the social media promotion they did for it.
  • Itchio takes about 7 days to process payments, even for bundles. Once you request a payout, it can take 10 to 14 days for the money to hit your bank as Itchio does a manual review of every payment in a payout.
  • Before you join, check your settings for revenue sharing to see how much of your cut Itchio is taking. Set it to a number that you are comfortable with! They let you set it to zero (this will make your dashboard screen grayscale, but...) I suggest setting it at 2% - 5% because it is great that itchio is such an inclusive platform but lol I am assuming most of us are starving authors in a world that hates us right now.
  • Please be on the lookout for emails from me!! I'll be emailing from an email ending in @daxmurray.com, so please whitelist my domain.
  • I'll be mentioning this in my personal blog, queerbooksweekly, and in my personal newsletter to try to drum up as much interest as possible.
