Dig into the science behind how plants grow, thrive, and support life! In this engaging, hands-on semester class, students ages 8–13 will explore the fundamentals of agricultural science through soil studies, photosynthesis, pollination, and garden-based experiments.
Each class builds on the last, taking students step-by-step through the process of building a successful fall garden. With monthly visits to a working farm and a garden-to-table finale, students will experience real-world connections between science, sustainability, and food systems.
Topics include:
🌱 Soil types & composting
🌞 Photosynthesis & energy transfer
🐝 The role of pollinators
🌿 Plant life cycles & seed dispersal
🪴 Designing and growing a small fall garden
🌎 Ecosystems, food webs, and interdependence
🥕 Garden-to-table celebration with student-grown produce
