LEARN TO PAINT COURSE IN MARCH 2025

LEARN TO PAINT COURSE OVER THREE WEEKS: WEDNESDAY 19th, 26th March and 2nd April  FROM 1 PM – 3 PM. This course is £90 and includes all materials and tuition. Refreshments are also provided.

No prior experience is required – just a willingness to embrace your artistic spirit!
Forget about the intimidating blank canvas or paper, I will be with you every step of the way.
  • Step-by-step guidance is crafted for those who have never held a brush.
  • You will discover the joy of expressing yourself through each stroke.
  • Throughout the day you will learn the basics of colour mixing, brush techniques, and composition in a supportive environment.
  • We will be using acrylic paints as these are one of the most versatile, especially for beginners.
 
This course will run over three weeks. The Dates are WEDNESDAY 19th, 26th March and 2nd April and will be in the afternoon from 1 pm – 3 pm.
 
Week 1: We will learn about colour theory, the colour wheel, mixing and blending colours. We will also look at which brushes to use.
 
Week 2: Once mastered the colour mixing we can move on to looking at skies, clouds and sunsets. How we apply the paint and which brushes to use. We will finish with painting a sky in an impressionist style.
 
Week 3: In this session we will look at the study of trees, again looking at how we apply paint and which brushes to use and introduce palette knives.
 

It is advisable to wear old clothes, but there are disposable aprons for your use. All materials are provided and you will go home with your finished painting at the end of the day on week 2 and week 3.

Impressionist Painting Still Life in Oils workshop

This workshop will be on FRIDAY 17th January from 1.00 pm – 3.30pm and this session will be £45 . Materials will be provided, but if you have your own tabletop easel or your own brushes that you like to use, then please bring them along.
 
During the course of this workshop we will be using the medium of oils. I will be showing how to mix and blend the colours, how to add light and shade, and guidance on the ideal brush/tools to use including a palette knife. We will be focusing on the study of a still life of a vase of flowers, looking at colour and texture in an impressionist style.
 
These workshops are ideal for beginners or for those wishing to brush up on their skills. We will be working on canvas and you will be able to take home the painting that you have produced.
 
It is advised to come in old clothes but disposable aprons are available. Refreshments are also provided.

Impressionist Painting Workshop Using Acrylics In January

This workshop will run on Friday 24th January from 1pm – 3.30 pm It will be £35 for the session. Materials will be provided, but if you have your own tabletop easel or your own brushes that you like to use, then please bring them along.
During this workshop, we will be using the medium of acrylics. I will be showing how to mix and blend the colours, how to add light and shade, and guidance on the ideal brush to use. We will be creating an impressionist painting using the medium of acrylics, thus allowing the artist to create their style and interpretation of the landscape.
In this workshop, we will be looking at clouds and studying the sky as well as incorporating the foreground in the landscape.
This workshop is ideal for beginners or for those wishing to brush up on their painting skills. You will be able to take home the painting that you have produced on a canvas.
Refreshments are also provided.

Lino Cutting Workshop For Beginners in January

Beginners Lino Cutting Workshop SUNDAY 19th January from 1 pm – 3.30 pm BL6 studios in Horwich.
 
This session costs £40 which includes all materials. Places are limited (max 6) so please book quickly to avoid disappointment. Tuition by Julia Entwistle
 
This is a basic lino-cutting workshop with instructions on how to use all the equipment to produce a final piece you can then take home with you. You will be introduced in the use of some basic lino cutting tools, how to handle your lino tile and and you will be creating your own design from our books and images that are available to use. You can of course bring one of your own designs that you would like to work from. (The tile size is approximately 8″ x 6″ )
 
It is advisable to wear old clothes, although a disposable apron is available.

Tuesday Weekly Life Drawing Sessions

These are weekly sessions on a Tuesday morning from 10 - 12 pm. These sessions are £14.

Easels and drawing boards are available. Artists can bring their own materials to use.

Refreshments are provided.

*Please note these sessions are untutored (Same as the Wednesday evening group)

Wednesday Weekly Life drawing sessions

These are untutored life drawing sessions that run every Wednesday evening from 7 pm - 9 pm. These sessions are £14 and include refreshments. The studio can provide easels and drawing boards, but artists are advised to bring their own materials.

Long Pose Painting day

This event is being held on Saturday 11th January from 12 - 4 pm and will include a light lunch (vegetarian and vegan option available) attendees can bring their own if they so wish. Tea and coffee are provided throughout the day.

There will be two poses of 40 mins before the lunch break. After lunch there will be a two hour pose which will allow you enough time to use all mediums including paints, should you wish to do so.

There will be some easels available plus drawing boards.

Artists are advised to bring their own materials for this session.

Tutored Life Drawing Sessions - Six week Course

The next tutored life drawing sessions will start on Wednesday 5th March 2025 and will run for a block of six weeks each Wednesday morning from 10 - 12 pm.
The dates are 5th March, 12th March, 19th March, 26th March, 2nd April and 9th April.
The course will include materials i.e. Heavy weight cartridge papers, pencils, charcoals, and pastels. You can bring your own materials if you so wish.

There will be easels and drawing boards and the studio will provide all materials. There will be a tea/coffee break midway through the morning.
*This course is ideal for beginners or for those wishing to improve their drawing skills.
