TidyCal is the best scheduling app for wedding officiants and venues who charge for their time. Clients pay when they book, with packages and subscriptions on the Free plan, and Individual Lifetime is $29 once. Pick Acuity Scheduling if you want intake forms on every consultation and tour booking, and Calendly if you run video consultations and want Zoom, Google Meet or Teams links on a free plan.

Our take, from the TidyCal team

What to ask the couple

Three questions on every ceremony tier.

  1. Both of your names On: Simple ceremony (up to 10 guests)
  2. Number of guests (Just us two / 2 to 5 / 6 to 10) On: Simple ceremony (up to 10 guests)
  3. Do you have your marriage license? (Yes / Not yet) On: Simple ceremony (up to 10 guests)

The license question saves a very awkward conversation on the day. If they answer "not yet," you know to send them the county clerk link that day.

Deposits, honestly

TidyCal charges the price of a booking type when it is booked. There is no split "deposit now, rest later" option.

Two ways venues handle it. Keep the tiers small enough to take in full, which works for $175 to $350 ceremonies. Or create a booking type called "Date hold, $250 deposit" for big events, take that at booking, and invoice the balance the way you do today.

Either way, the date is not held until money moves. That alone stops most "we are still deciding" no-shows.

How a venue actually uses it

Most couples start with the free venue tour. The tour confirmation links to the three ceremony tiers, so the next step is one click.

A couple picks the Classic ceremony for a Saturday in June, eight months out, and pays $250. The date is theirs, and nobody else can book the studio then.

Photographers use the studio hire booking type for engagement shoots on weekdays, which fills the quiet part of the week.

Pro, $12/mo or $99/yr

All of it, with no TidyCal branding, unlimited calendars and team scheduling with no seat fees.

How we checked

Every competitor price comes from that company's own pricing page, read on September 30, 2026, at the billing period shown next to it. Tools with no published price we could verify carry no dollar figure. The ranking is for wedding officiants and venues who take bookings and charge for some of them. Nobody paid to be on this list. TidyCal's prices come straight from the plans we sell, so they match what you will pay, and the 1% platform fee on Stripe bookings is the live rate.

Questions wedding officiants and venues ask us

Can I take a deposit?

TidyCal charges the full price of a booking type at booking. To take a deposit, create a booking type priced at the deposit amount (for example "Date hold, $250 deposit") and collect the balance separately.

Can couples book a year in advance?

Yes. Set the booking window on each booking type. The default is 60 days, and you can raise it.

Can I ask for the guest count?

Yes. Add a dropdown question with your guest-count ranges. It comes with the booking.

What does TidyCal cost?

The Free plan is $0 and includes paid bookings. Individual Lifetime is $29 one time. Pro is $12 a month or $99 a year.

Can both partners get the confirmation?

Yes. Guest invites let the person booking add their partner or planner, and everyone on the invite gets the details and reminders.
