How to migrate from Acuity Scheduling to TidyCal
Export your appointments and client list from Acuity, rebuild each appointment type in TidyCal, and change Acuity's "closed" message to point people to your new link. Keep Acuity until your last Acuity appointment has happened: Acuity says reminders stop once the subscription ends.
What comes across, and what doesn't
| On Acuity | Moving to TidyCal | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Appointment types | Set up again | Acuity has no export for them. Use the map below. |
| Appointments | Export and keep | Export to CSV, including future dates. They stay on Acuity until they happen. |
| Clients | Export and keep | Export your client list to CSV. TidyCal adds contacts as people book. |
| Intake forms | Set up again | Become booking questions in TidyCal. |
| Packages and subscriptions | Set up again | TidyCal has both on the Free plan. Existing client subscriptions do not move; see step 6. |
| Gift certificates and waitlists | Stays behind | TidyCal has neither. |
| Old scheduling link | Shows a note | Acuity cannot redirect, but it can show a short "we have moved" line. |
Most people switch for the monthly bill. Acuity has no free plan and starts at $20 a month; TidyCal is free with paid bookings included, or $29 once for Individual Lifetime. See the full Acuity comparison.
Before you start
- Check who pays you: if you bill through Squarespace, cancelling ends the scheduler. If you are on older Acuity billing, the page can stay bookable after you cancel (step 7).
- Count future Acuity appointments. Reminders for them stop when the Acuity subscription ends.
- If you sell gift certificates or run a waitlist on Acuity, decide how you will handle those first. TidyCal has neither.
Step 1: Export appointments and clients from Acuity
Appointments: Reports > Import/Export, pick a date range (future dates are allowed), choose whether to include canceled ones, and click Export appointments. Do not pick an intake form unless you want only the appointments that used it.
Clients: Clients > Import/export > Export client list, pick a group, and export. Both files are CSVs.
Step 2: Create a free TidyCal account and connect your calendar
Sign up, set Your link under Bookings page settings, then add your Google, Microsoft 365 or Apple account under Integrations > Calendars.
If your Acuity appointments sync to that calendar, TidyCal sees them as busy time and will not double-book you.
Step 3: Rebuild each appointment type
Go to Booking types > New booking type and use the map below.
| Acuity setting | Where it goes in TidyCal | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Name, description, category | Basics | Free |
| Duration | Basics: 15, 30, 45, 60 or custom | Free |
| Location | Basics: Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, custom link, phone or in person | Free. Auto-created meeting links and multiple locations on paid plans |
| Availability | Availability | Free |
| Padding before and after ("block off time") | Restrictions: "Add a N minute gap between bookings" | Free |
| Minimum notice, how far ahead | Restrictions: "Require at least N notice", "Allow bookings N days ahead" | Free |
| Price | Pricing & Subscriptions | Free |
| Packages, memberships | Packages & Recurring; Pricing & Subscriptions: "Subscription" | Free |
| Coupons | Pricing & Subscriptions: "Allow coupons on this booking type" | Free |
| Intake forms | Questions: short and long text, choices, dropdown, date, phone | Free |
| Private appointment type | Visibility: "Hide from public profile" | Free |
| Classes (group appointments) | Groups & Guests: "Allow group bookings" | Paid plans |
| Email and text reminders | Notifications: custom email reminders; SMS reminders (U.S. and Canada) | Email on paid plans, SMS on Agency and Pro |
| Multiple calendars (staff) | Team: round robin or collective | Agency Lifetime and Pro |
Step 4: Connect payments
Under Integrations > Payments, connect Stripe or PayPal, or use TidyCal's managed payments. Packages, subscriptions and discount codes all work on the Free plan.
Step 5: Book yourself once, then share the new link
Book from a private window with a second email address and check the calendar event, emails and payment. Then replace your Acuity link in your website, email signature, social bios and client emails.
On a Squarespace site, delete the Acuity scheduling block yourself. Acuity says cancelling does not remove it.
Step 6: Handle client subscriptions and future appointments
Acuity warns that clients' recurring subscriptions fail once the payment processor changes. Tell subscribers before you switch and send them a new TidyCal subscription link.
Your future Acuity appointments are not canceled when the subscription ends, but Acuity stops sending their reminders. Either keep Acuity until they have happened, or send those clients a short reminder yourself.
Step 7: Close the old page, then cancel Acuity
Make every appointment type private. The scheduler then shows "Online scheduling is not currently available." Change that line under Scheduling Page > Edit Text to something like "We moved: tidycal.com/yourname" (100 characters at most).
Cancel from Billing > Subscriptions > Scheduling on Squarespace, or My Account > Current Plan > Cancel Subscription on an older Acuity login. On older Acuity billing your account drops to a legacy free plan and the page stays bookable, so remove all availability as well.
On TidyCal's Free and lifetime plans, Stripe bookings carry a 1% platform fee on top of Stripe's own. Pro has none, and PayPal bookings carry none.
Questions people ask
Can TidyCal import from Acuity Scheduling?
No. TidyCal's only importer is for Calendly. Export your appointments and clients from Acuity as CSVs and rebuild your appointment types; the map on this page covers every common setting.
Will my Acuity link redirect to TidyCal?
No. Acuity has no redirect. Make your appointment types private and edit the "not available" message to show your new address.
Do future Acuity appointments get canceled when I cancel?
No. Acuity keeps them, but stops sending reminders and follow-ups once the subscription ends.
Does TidyCal have packages and memberships like Acuity?
Yes, on the Free plan: package bookings, recurring bookings and subscriptions. Gift certificates and waitlists are the Acuity features TidyCal does not have.
