How to migrate from Calendly to TidyCal
Connect Calendly under Integrations > Import from Calendly. TidyCal brings over your event types, upcoming, past and cancelled bookings, and every contact, and nothing on Calendly changes. Then reconnect your calendar, add back location, price, buffers and reminders (the import does not carry them), swap your links, and downgrade Calendly once your last Calendly-booked meeting has passed.
What comes across, and what doesn't
| On Calendly | Moving to TidyCal | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Event types | Comes across | Title, description, length, questions, on/off and secret status, and the weekday hours from your default Calendly schedule. |
| Upcoming bookings | Comes across | Invitee name, email, time zone, answers, guests and meeting link. |
| Past and cancelled bookings | Comes across | Past ones come in as completed. Cancelled ones keep the reason Calendly recorded. |
| Contacts | Comes across | Everyone attached to those bookings, matched by email so nobody is duplicated. |
| Reschedules made on Calendly | Comes across | Optional sync. Changes made through old Calendly links show up in TidyCal within about 15 minutes. |
| Location and video links | Set up again | Set per booking type. Zoom, Google Meet and Teams links are created automatically on paid plans. |
| Prices and payments | Set up again | Connect Stripe or PayPal, or let TidyCal handle payments. Paid bookings work on the Free plan. |
| Buffers, notice, limits | Set up again | A few fields per booking type. The list is in step 4. |
| Workflows and reminders | Set up again | TidyCal can send email reminders for imported bookings. Custom reminder emails need a paid plan. |
| Routing forms, Salesforce and HubSpot | Stays behind | TidyCal has none of these. Zapier is on paid plans. |
Most people switch for price. Calendly Standard is $10 per seat a month billed yearly; TidyCal is free with unlimited booking types, or $29 once for Individual Lifetime. See the full Calendly comparison.
Before you start
- Write down, for each event type, the four things the import skips: location, price, buffers and minimum notice.
- Note which event types use a schedule other than your default one. The import uses your default schedule.
- If you send reminders through Calendly workflows, plan to turn them off on the day you switch TidyCal's on.
Step 1: Create a free TidyCal account and pick your link
Sign up with Google or email. Then open your booking page and click Bookings page settings. The Your link field is your address: tidycal.com/yourname.
Use the same name you had on Calendly if it is free. Swapping calendly.com/jane for tidycal.com/jane is easier for everyone who already knows the link.
Step 2: Connect your calendar
Go to Integrations > Calendars and click Add Google account, Add Microsoft 365 account or Add Apple account (Apple asks for an app-specific password, not your normal one).
New bookings go to the calendar marked Primary Calendar (change it with Set primary). Turn the Reading switch on for every calendar TidyCal should check for conflicts. The Free plan checks 1 calendar, Individual Lifetime and Agency Lifetime check 10, Pro checks as many as you connect.
Step 3: Import from Calendly
Go to Integrations > Import from Calendly and click Connect Calendly account. Log in to Calendly once, then click Choose what to import.
Tick Booking types (always on for a first import), Upcoming bookings, Past bookings and Cancelled bookings. Contacts always come along.
Leave Follow changes made on Calendly on while you switch. Anyone holding an old Calendly confirmation can still reschedule or cancel, and TidyCal picks it up within about 15 minutes. TidyCal never changes anything on Calendly.
If you turn on Send reminders, turn Calendly's own reminder workflows off first, or invitees get two of everything. Click Start import. You can close the tab; tick Email me when the import finishes to get a note when it is done. Running it again later updates what came over and never duplicates it.
Step 4: Fix the four things the import skips
Open Booking types and click into each imported one.
- The URL. Imported booking types get a timestamp on the end of the slug (for example intro-call20261015093000). Change it back to your Calendly slug under Basics > URL.
- Location. Under Basics, pick Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, a custom video link, a phone number or an in-person address. Automatic meeting links and more than one location per booking type need a paid plan.
- Price. Under Pricing & Subscriptions, choose per booking or subscription, then TidyCal's managed payments, Stripe or PayPal.
- Buffers and notice. Under Restrictions: "Add a N minute gap between bookings", "Require at least N notice" and "Allow bookings N days ahead". Calendly has separate before and after buffers; TidyCal has one gap, so use the larger of the two. Daily or weekly caps are under "Set maximum bookings" on paid plans.
While you are in there, check Availability on any booking type that used a non-default Calendly schedule.
Step 5: Move payments without a gap
Connect Stripe or PayPal under Integrations > Payments before you send anyone to a paid TidyCal booking type.
On Calendly, turn paid event types off before you disconnect Stripe or PayPal there. Calendly's own help says a paid event type becomes free to book once the processor is disconnected.
Step 6: Book yourself once
Open your TidyCal link in a private window and book a slot with a second email address. Check that the event lands on your calendar with the right video link, the confirmation email reads right, and a paid booking charges. Then cancel it.
Step 7: Swap your links
Calendly does not forward old links. Its help center says it plainly: "Old links do not redirect." So the switch is only done when every place that points to Calendly points to TidyCal instead.
- Email signature and email templates or canned replies
- Website buttons and embeds. Replace the Calendly embed code with TidyCal's Embed on website code from the booking type
- Social bios, Linktree and Google Business Profile
- Autoresponders, welcome emails and course or membership platforms
- Invoices, proposals and PDF onboarding packs
Then turn each Calendly event type off. Calendly says meetings already scheduled are not affected.
Step 8: Downgrade Calendly after your last Calendly meeting
In Calendly go to Settings > Billing > Change plan > Downgrade and pick Free. It takes effect at the end of your billing cycle.
Wait to delete the account until the last meeting booked through Calendly has happened. Calendly warns that after deletion, booked meetings may show up on your connected calendar as canceled.
On TidyCal's Free and lifetime plans, Stripe bookings carry a 1% platform fee on top of Stripe's own. Pro has none, and PayPal bookings carry none.
Questions people ask
Can TidyCal import my Calendly bookings, or only event types?
Both. The importer brings over event types, upcoming bookings, past bookings and cancelled bookings, plus every contact attached to them. You pick which with checkboxes before it starts.
Does importing change anything on my Calendly account?
No. TidyCal only reads from Calendly. The optional sync also only reads: it copies reschedules and cancellations made on Calendly into TidyCal.
Will my Calendly links redirect to TidyCal?
No. Calendly does not offer redirects for scheduling links. Replace the link everywhere you shared it, then turn the Calendly event types off.
Will invitees get duplicate reminders?
Only if both tools send them. Turn off Calendly's reminder workflows before you switch on reminders in TidyCal.
What does the Calendly import not bring over?
Location, price, buffers, minimum notice, booking limits and reminder workflows. Each takes a minute per booking type in TidyCal. Routing forms and CRM integrations have no TidyCal equivalent.
