How to migrate from Cal.com to TidyCal
There is no Cal.com importer, so this is a short rebuild. Download your bookings from Cal.com Insights as a CSV, recreate each event type in TidyCal using the settings map below, then point your old Cal.com links at TidyCal with Cal.com's own redirect setting. Most people with a handful of event types are done in under an hour.
What comes across, and what doesn't
| On Cal.com | Moving to TidyCal | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Event types | Set up again | Cal.com has no export file. Rebuilding one takes 5 to 10 minutes with the map below. |
| Upcoming bookings | Stays behind | They stay on Cal.com and on your calendar. Keep Cal.com open until the last one has happened. |
| Booking history | Export and keep | Download from Cal.com Insights as a CSV and keep it. |
| Contacts | Export and keep | Cal.com has no contacts export; the bookings CSV has each booker's name and email. TidyCal adds contacts as people book. |
| Old Cal.com links | Can forward | Cal.com can send visitors on to another URL. Point each one at its TidyCal twin. |
| Payments | Set up again | Connect Stripe or PayPal in TidyCal. Paid bookings work on the Free plan. |
| Workflows and reminders | Set up again | Custom email reminders on paid plans, SMS on Agency and Pro. |
| Self-hosting and code access | Stays behind | TidyCal is hosted only. |
Most teams switch for the per-seat bill. Cal.com Teams is $12 per user a month billed yearly; TidyCal Agency Lifetime is $79 once for a small team. See the full Cal.com comparison.
Before you start
- List your Cal.com links (event types) and open each one in a tab. You will copy from them.
- Note your team setup: round robin and collective events need TidyCal Agency Lifetime or Pro.
Step 1: Download your Cal.com bookings
In Cal.com, open Insights, set the date range (use a custom range that covers past and upcoming), and click Download. You get a CSV of what is on screen.
Keep the file. TidyCal cannot import it, but it is your record of who booked what, and the booker names and emails are your contact list.
Step 2: Create a free TidyCal account and connect your calendar
Sign up, set Your link under Bookings page settings, then go to Integrations > Calendars and add your Google, Microsoft 365 or Apple account.
Turn the Reading switch on for each calendar TidyCal should check for conflicts: 1 on Free, 10 on the lifetime plans, as many as you like on Pro. Your Cal.com bookings are already on that calendar, so TidyCal will not double-book over them.
Step 3: Rebuild each event type
Go to Booking types > New booking type and work through the map below. Give each one the same slug it had on Cal.com.
| Cal.com setting | Where it goes in TidyCal | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Title, slug, description | Basics | Free |
| Duration (and multiple durations) | Basics: 15, 30, 45, 60 or custom. Make one booking type per length | Free |
| Location | Basics: Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, custom link, phone or in person | Free. Auto-created meeting links and multiple locations on paid plans |
| Availability and date overrides | Availability | Free |
| Before and after buffer | Restrictions: "Add a N minute gap between bookings" | Free |
| Minimum notice, future booking limit | Restrictions: "Require at least N notice", "Allow bookings N days ahead" | Free |
| Booking frequency limits | Restrictions: "Set maximum bookings" | Paid plans |
| Booking questions | Questions | Free |
| Requires confirmation | Restrictions: "Manually approve bookings" | Paid plans |
| Seats | Groups & Guests: "Allow group bookings" | Paid plans |
| Hidden event | Visibility: "Hide from public profile" | Free |
| Redirect on booking | Notifications: "Redirect to custom page after booking" | Paid plans |
| Payments | Pricing & Subscriptions | Free |
| Workflows (email, SMS reminders) | Notifications: custom email reminders; SMS reminders (U.S. and Canada) | Email on paid plans, SMS on Agency and Pro |
| Round robin, collective | Team | Agency Lifetime and Pro |
Step 4: Book yourself once
Book each TidyCal booking type from a private window with a second email address. Check the calendar event, the video link and, for paid types, the charge. Then cancel.
Step 5: Redirect your old Cal.com links
Cal.com is the one tool here that can forward a link. Open each Cal.com event, go to Privacy & security and use Redirect when accessed without routing form with the matching TidyCal URL. People who open the old link directly land on TidyCal. Personal links can redirect anywhere; links on a Cal.com organization must use a verified domain.
Still replace the link in your email signature, website and bios. A redirect is a safety net, and it ends when you delete the Cal.com account.
Step 6: Turn off payments, then close Cal.com
Turn payment off on each Cal.com event, then uninstall Stripe or PayPal under Installed apps.
On a Teams or Organizations plan, cancel from Settings > Billing. Only delete the account after your last Cal.com booking has happened and you no longer need the redirects. Cal.com's warning is clear: "Anyone who you've shared your account link with will no longer be able to book using it."
On TidyCal's Free and lifetime plans, Stripe bookings carry a 1% platform fee on top of Stripe's own. Pro has none, and PayPal bookings carry none.
Questions people ask
Can TidyCal import from Cal.com?
No. TidyCal's only importer is for Calendly. Cal.com event types are rebuilt by hand, which is quick because the settings line up closely.
Can my Cal.com links forward to TidyCal?
Yes. Cal.com's "Redirect when accessed without routing form" setting sends anyone who opens the event link to a URL you choose. It stops working if you delete the Cal.com account.
What happens to bookings already made on Cal.com?
They stay on Cal.com and on your connected calendar. Keep your Cal.com account until the last one has happened, so the reschedule and cancel links in those confirmation emails keep working.
Can I import my Cal.com contacts?
Not as a file. TidyCal creates a contact for everyone who books. Developers on a paid plan can add contacts through the TidyCal API.
